The Jackson St. Paddy's day is one of our favorite spring activities. This year, in particular, we were really looking forward to it. 16 of our friends who live in the Memphis area were coming down for the weekend, and they were bringing their kids. Our plan was to go out to dinner Friday night, and Saturday would be spent at the parade and with our kids.
And then it rained. And by rain, I mean monsoon. Buckets and buckets of Noah-you-better-start-building-that-ark rain. It hadn't rained on parade day in over 10 years. Bummer.
However, we powered through. We donned our raingear and stood in the wet for an hour before we called it a day. Sam refused to stay covered--he was absolutely soaked--and Alex...well, Alex just wasn't having it. He stayed under the eaves of the building the entire time. We're hoping for better weather next year, that's for sure.
The weekend certainly wasn't a total wash. (See what I did there? Wash?) Dinner Friday night was wonderful, and Saturday afternoon we all headed to a post-parade crawfish boil at a friend's house. Our kids played, and we enjoyed one another's company.
Thanks a lot to whoever was handing out fake bugs on the parade route.
